The Big Passion
Lucia was a dancer.
She was an excellent dancer, with
legs that went all the way up.
Her poise was exquisite, her
form angelic, her face Hellenic,
and her reputation impeccible.
...And she also had remarkably
huge feet. Not just large,
as some women have, but
IMMENSE, Bozoesque, Gimungous,
Elephantine, Hippopotimatious,
Flipperesque---you perceive my drift...
It was said that she could stand
in a hurricane and merely bobble
back and forth while other people
were swept away in the tempest.
It is said that no man could dance with
her unless he had arms like a gorilla.
In short, a lot of bad
things were commented upon
about Lucia's feet.
But Lucia was a nice girl, had
friends and close family to support
her. One day she met a fine young
man--Paul, who loved her and in a while
the two were married. She had a
wedding gown made with a very very
large circumference in the skirt area
so she could walk down the aisle
without the gaze of the crown fixed
on her white specially designed wedding
shoes. The wedding was outside with
no altar or stage to trip upon, and it all
went beautifully.
Lucia and her husband lived happily
for a few years in a one-floor cottage ,
since Lucial had trouble climbing stairs.
All seemed to be going beautifully until suddenly
Paul left her in a quiet divorce.
It is said that he moved to the
tropics, but no one is certain.
No one knew the reason for the breakup
until many years later after Lucia died. She'd had
a long career as a respected innovative dancer, then
in old age as a dance instructor and administrator.
In her memoirs, locked in a safe with her will and
her wedding ring, she explained the reason for the
divorce. Lucia had unbearably cold feet.
