This photorealistic painting by Tom McKinley is a splendid illustration
of American minimalist design and architecture of the 1960s. McKinley
emphasizes on empty rooms staged with minimal furniture. This
composition is furthermore brightened by large window panels which
suggest a wonderful perspective to the composition. The piece is a
compelling study in perspective and a remarkable illustration of
McKinley’s technical virtuosity. The shadows and reflections add
incredible dimension and movement, while the uninhabited space adds an
eerie, static quality signature to McKinley's work.

At the time, the artists working for the pulps weren't considered anything but cheap creatives providing cheap entertainment for cheap minds. But now we know what they were: visions of wonder, amazing vistas of the imagination, daring dreams of possibility, magnificent views of What Could Be ~ but most of all we look back at what they did and recognize it for being truly magnificent art.

Thomas Bloch and his glass harmonicaThe glass harmonica, also known as the glass armonica, hydrocrystalophone, or simply armonica (derived from "armonia", the Italian word for harmony), is a type of musical instrument that uses a series of glass bowls or goblets graduated in size to produce musical tones by means of friction (instruments of this type are known as friction idiophones).
Because its sounding portion is made of glass, the glass harmonica is a crystallophone. The phenomenon of rubbing a wet finger around the rim of a wine goblet to produce tones is documented back to Renaissance times; Galileo considered the phenomenon (in his Two New Sciences), as did Athanasius Kircher.
The Irish musician Richard Puckeridge is typically credited as the first to play an instrument composed of glass vessels by rubbing his fingers around the rims.[1] Beginning in the 1740s, he performed in London on a set of upright goblets filled with varying amounts of water. During the same decade, Christoph Willibald Gluck also attracted attention playing a similar instrument in England.
